Restricted Area

According to the law of Nepal many trekking areas, national parks and conservation area, Mountains, etc are restricted to foreigners, and require a special permit to Visit the area.   Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, Manaslu, Lower Dolpo, Rara Lake are some of the examples of Restricted Trekking areas in Nepal where access to foreigners is strictly controlled. These trekking areas are different in many features from ordinary trails. You must travel with the assistance of an executive person and have a special permit. Groups must consist of a minimum of two trekkers. The main purpose of these areas being 'restricted' is to protect the natural environment and culture of Nepal from outside pressures. An environmental representative has to register with the police and government offices in route.
