Shivapuri is a settlement in the Nuwakot District of the Bagmati Zone in central Nepal, Kakani is popular for panoramic mountains views of Annapurna (8091m/ 26,545ft), Manaslu (8165m/ 26,781ft), Ganesh Himal (7446m/ 24,422ft), Langtang region (7245m/ 23,763ft) and 20 other mountains over 6000 meters (19,680ft) above sea level. You can also see the natural beauty of the Kathmandu Valley, the people and their culture and traditions.
It is a settlement in the Nuwakot District of the Bagmati Zone in central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census, the village development committee administered a population of 7816 living in 1343 individual households.
As one of the most accessible settlements from Kathmandu over 2000 meters, this hill station hosts a British Gurkhas welfare bungalow and a couple of simple hotels offering basic accommodation to travelers.
Kakani has become famous as one of the best spots to view Mount Everest as well as other snow-topped peaks of the Himalayan range of eastern Nepal. It also offers an excellent view of the valley to the east. Kakani also offers a panoramic view of the Valley and is described by visitors as a place whose beauty endures year round.
A notable local industry is strawberry farming. With the assistance of a United Nations Development Program project, a local farmers' cooperative now produces close to 250 000kg of the fruit per year.
