Butwal is a sub-metropolitan city which lies in southern Nepal which lies in the Western Development Region of Lumbini Zone of Rupendehi district. It is situated at the bank of Tilottama River, Tnau River 265 km west of Kathmandu, 161 km south of Pokhara, 147 km east of Ghorani, Dang and 22 km north of Siddharthanagar Bhairawaha, at the northern edge of the Terai plain below the Siwalik Hills. Its name, Butwal is derived from Batauli Bazaar, the town's oldest area which is located on the west side of Tinau river.
Butwal is the intersection of Nepal's two different National Highway which are Mahindra and Siddhartha Highway. It connects Nepal capital Kathmandu through highway and air links (via airport at Siddharthanagar). It is one of the fastest-growing cities in Nepal for education, infrastructure, highway, marketing, health and safety, communication, trade and banking sectors. It has highway connections to the Indian border at Sunauli and to the hilly towns in Tansen and Pokhara valley, and has held the title of being "The Best City in Nepal" four times in a row.
Lumbini is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Ruphendehi distrist of Nepal near the Indian border. It is the birth place of Gautam Buddha where Myadevi give him birth. lumbini is one of four magnet for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha the others bring at Kushinagar, Bodh Gaya and Sarnath.
Siddha Baba Temple:
The Siddha Baba Temple is delected to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at the hills that border Butwol.Most of the Hindus religions peoples are come here to worship. In visiting Siddhi Baba Temple its saying it would be the best to avoide going here on Saturday. Te large number of pigeon can be seen in the temple.
It is the symbol of Buddhism's founder,Siddhartha Gautam a prince of Kapilvastu. Buddha Statue represents the belife system thst has evolved into three main philosophines
Nuwakot Hill Top:
Nuwakot Hill Top is about 890m located in north east in Butwal. From the top of hills we can get Breathless view of the mountain ranges Macchapuchhre in the north and beautiful view of Lumbin i and Terai region. The village is situated around 76 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu.
